Online shopping has barely changed in twenty years.
The internet exploded with choice and webshops, but we still navigate and select the exact same way. We’re forced to choose inside individual store walls — or we lose ourselves in a sea of open tabs.
Consumers don’t need more stores — they need a calm place to think and decide. We think it can be smarter.
The foundation
The shopping cart never grew up
Every webshop builds a cart and a wishlist with one goal: get you to checkout as fast as possible. They’re optimised for transactions, not for your deliberation. But modern shoppers don’t buy at one store. We compare, hesitate and plan across dozens of platforms.
Nobody ever designed the cart from the consumer’s side. A place tied not to the seller, but to the buyer. Basket restores that balance by giving you back control over your discoveries and decisions.

Sell stuff ourselves. We stay independent and we’re not a retailer.
Sponsored suggestions. Deciding what you see based on who pays us most is off the table.
Sell your data. Your data is yours and won’t be monetised for targeted ads.

We’re a small, independent team based in Amsterdam. No VC money pushing aggressive growth — just the freedom to build software that genuinely serves the user.
We believe in craft and focus. We’d rather build one thing that works and brings calm than ten features that almost work but create noise.
